Ballet training is a very important part of a dancer's foundation for dance. An education in ballet translates values that can be used to pursue other forms of dance. We take ballet training very seriously, which is why we have an experienced ballet teacher come in to work with our competition team.
Another important aspect of dance is exploring different styles of dance. A style class is a specialized class taught by an expert in that style. Through style classes taught by inside and outside choreographers, our competition dancers are able to expand and sharpen their knowledge and movement for a particular style of dance.
Good dance technique builds a dancer's strength and flexibility and refines movement quality. Proper training in technique provides dancers the ability to perform using correct body placement and alignment, as well as portray beautiful lines with the body. Competition dancers are required to take a technique class once a week.
Company members will take a stretch class. During this class, dancers work on their flexibility and extension. Stretching keeps the muscles flexible and strong. Learning how to properly stretch the muscles can help our dancers prevent injuries, relieve tension, and improve alignment and range of motion.
In the beginning of each competition season, all competition dancers will participate in learning "team performance" routine. This "team performance" routine will be showcased at special events. At East Coast Dance Force LTD., we believe that participating in outside events in the community is an important aspect of being part of a competition team. Not only do we want to showcase our talented dancers, we also want to create a fun atmosphere friendship and team camaraderie.
